Job description

Summary The Urban Development Authority (UDA) is the visionary development body that uses its private resources and public sector position to work collectively and creatively to solve issues that arise with urban revitalization. UDA serves at the intersection of public and private progress for Downtown Macon. The UDA implements projects and programs as outlined in the Macon Action Plan (MAP XL), a comprehensive planning document focused on Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

Day to day this work includes managing and overseeing public projects ranging from infrastructure investments, bonds and public financing, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach. The Operations Manager will be the lead implementer of select projects of the authority, specifically, but not limited to management of Park Macon, project management of infrastructure improvements in Downtown Macon, community outreach and engagement, and other projects as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The operations manager serves a critical role in overseeing public programs and infrastructure investments focused on Macon's downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods.

Examples of work include developing and overseeing capital projects, designing and executing community engagement activities, and coordinating and assisting community partners. A key part of the job includes managing Park Macon, Macon's paid parking program. This includes completing regular reporting, creating and implementing programs to improve the parking program, oversight of court proceedings related to paid parking citations, and supporting parking staff.

Manage infrastructure projects including coordinating stakeholders, tracking project budgets, designing and executing community outreach Deliver all projects and duties assigned by and at the direction of the Executive Director Design and implement community outreach activities Manage the property portfolio of the Authority. Lead ongoing operations of the parking accessibility plan, including oversight of parking manager. Serve as the main point of contact on selected projects overseen by the authority Oversee Park Macon Staff and manage Park Macon Operations including managing Park Macon's annual budget Serve as staff lead for the Downtown Macon Parking Advisory Board Represent the Urban Development Authority on agency and community boards as necessary Host and attend community meetings as needed Other duties as assigned Education, Training and Experience A bachelor's degree in public administration, urban planning, urban studies, economics, businesses or other similar field 3+ years in a program management role in local government, nonprofits, or other agencies focused on urban planning and public spaces 3+ years of experience with public outreach and engagement efforts Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated understanding of urban planning and urban development best practices Demonstrated understanding of public budgeting process and budget management Understanding of land entitlement, permitting, and land use regulation Experience with public speaking and presentations Experience coordinating projects across stakeholders, including landscape architects, residents, contractors, elected officials, community organizations, and government agencies Experience with grant writing, fundraising, and reporting Exemplary time management skills.

Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills Knowledge of personal computers including website management. Ability to use discretion and handling of confidential matters. Ability to work independently and on a team.
