What is an architectural millwork engineer?

An Architectural Millwork Engineer is a professional who specializes in designing, drafting, and overseeing the production of custom woodwork and cabinetry for architectural projects. They work closely with architects, designers, and manufacturers to translate design concepts into detailed shop drawings and production plans. Their responsibilities include material selection, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and problem-solving during manufacturing and installation. To thrive as an Architectural Millwork Engineer, you need a solid background in architectural drafting, woodworking, and construction principles, often supported by a degree in engineering, architecture, or related fields. Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, and experience with project management systems and CNC machinery are typically required.
