Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a sales-driven Residential Kitchen Designer with strong kitchen design experience and required proficiency in 2020 Design software. This position is responsible for developing residential kitchen projects from initial consultation through design, product selection, quoting, and sale.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, customer-focused, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced sales environment. This is not solely a design position—the Residential Kitchen Designer is expected to actively generate leads, follow up on opportunities, close sales, and contribute directly to residential revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with residential clients to understand their renovation goals, style preferences, budget, and timeline.
  • Create professional kitchen layouts, elevations, and renderings using 2020 Design software.
  • Use strong space-planning principles to develop functional and attractive kitchen designs.
  • Assist customers with cabinetry, countertops, hardware, flooring, and other related product selections.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, designs, and product specifications.
  • Drive residential kitchen sales from initial lead through signed contract.
  • Actively generate new residential leads through referrals, networking, customer outreach, follow-up, and other sales-development activities.
  • Consistently follow up on open quotes, proposals, and potential customers to move opportunities through the sales pipeline.
  • Identify opportunities to increase each sale through appropriate product recommendations and upgrades.
  • Develop strong relationships with homeowners, contractors, builders, and referral partners.
  • Maintain and manage an active residential sales pipeline.
  • Meet established individual sales goals, activity expectations, and performance targets.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of cabinetry, including construction types, door styles, finishes, accessories, modifications, and installation considerations.
  • Verify measurements and specifications to ensure designs and orders are accurate before purchasing.
  • Coordinate with project management, installers, vendors, and other internal departments throughout the project.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers from initial consultation through project completion.
  • Manage multiple customers, designs, revisions, quotes, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Maintain accurate customer, project, and sales information within company systems.
  • Stay current on kitchen design trends, cabinetry products, materials, and available product lines.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in 2020 Design software is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in residential kitchen design and space planning.
  • Strong understanding of cabinetry, cabinet construction, product options, and installation considerations.
  • Proven ability to sell, develop customer relationships, follow up on leads, and close business.
  • Experience in kitchen sales, cabinetry, remodeling, interior design, home improvement, or a related sales environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy workload and multiple active projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable being accountable for individual sales goals and performance expectations.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with sales, operations, and project teams.
  • Strong computer and administrative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience specifically in residential kitchen and cabinetry sales.
  • Experience working with homeowners, contractors, builders, and remodelers.
  • Education or certification in Interior Design, Kitchen & Bath Design, Architecture, or a related field.
Sales Expectations

The Residential Kitchen Designer is expected to take ownership of both design and sales performance. Success in this role includes creating quality kitchen designs while actively building a pipeline, generating new opportunities, maintaining consistent customer follow-up, converting estimates into signed projects, and contributing to the continued growth of the residential division.
