This position launches with an initial focus on Petrifilm manufacturing and will expand to support additional manufacturing areas across the facility. The Manufacturing Training Program Lead works in close alignment with the Training Program Playbook and cross-functional partners to convert defined training requirements into a sustainable, scalable training system.
Manufacturing Training Program Lead

Role Summary
The Manufacturing Training Program Lead owns the design, structure, governance, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing training system at Neogen's Lansing facility. This role is not a hands-on process trainer - it is the architect of a scalable, standardized training infrastructure that enables supervisors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to train effectively, consistently, and efficiently, without requiring them to design or maintain the system themselves.
This position launches with an initial focus on Petrifilm manufacturing and will expand to support additional manufacturing areas across the facility. The Manufacturing Training Program Lead works in close alignment with the Training Program Playbook and cross-functional partners to convert defined training requirements into a sustainable, scalable training system.
Key Responsibilities
Training System Design
  • Translate approved training matrices into structured, role-based learning pathways for each manufacturing position
  • Develop standard training modules, job aids, visual work instructions, and competency evaluation tools
  • Define and document onboarding and skill progression standards by role and level
  • Build training materials that are ready to deploy by supervisors and SMEs without additional design effort
  • Ensure all training content aligns to process requirements, quality standards, and regulatory expectations

Supervisor & SME Enablement
  • Create ready-to-deploy training packages that enable consistent delivery across shifts and teams
  • Define how supervisors and SMEs deliver training using standard materials and structured assessments
  • Develop trainer preparation guides and facilitation resources to support effective on-the-floor training
  • Support fair, objective, and consistent skill assessment practices across the operation
  • Partner with supervisors and Manufacturing Managers to identify training gaps and prioritize development needs

Tracking, Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and maintain training completion tracking and competency documentation systems
  • Provide Manufacturing leadership with visibility into training status, skill gaps, and compliance by team and shift
  • Build feedback loops from learners and trainers to continuously evaluate and improve training effectiveness
  • Review and update training content as processes, equipment, or standards change
  • Support corrective action and response to training-related quality or compliance events

Program Expansion
  • Apply the Petrifilm training framework to additional manufacturing areas across the facility over time
  • Serve as the internal expert and resource for manufacturing training program design and execution
  • Collaborate with HR, Quality, and Operations leadership to align training standards with broader organizational goals

Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Training & Development, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing and managing training programs in a manufacturing, regulated industry, or operations environment
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and adult learning principles
  • Ability to translate complex technical processes into clear, practical training materials for floor-level use
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; comfort creating structured documents and visual job aids
  • Clear communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Experience in food safety, life sciences, diagnostics, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred
  • Familiarity with competency-based training frameworks and skill progression models preferred
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or digital training platforms preferred
  • Background in training within a startup or ramp-up manufacturing operation a plus
