About this opportunity: 

This role plays a vital part in creating a safe, engaging, and meaningful camp experience through recreational and archery programming that encourages confidence, teamwork, and personal growth.

The role supports the operation for the camp’s archery area, coordinating archery activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. You’llbe part of a collaborative, Christ-centered community that values fun, service, and intentional mentorship. 

Key Responsiblities:

  • Teaches campers clear safety signals and range commands to control activity at the firing line during arrow retrieval  

  • Assists in the implementation of staff training for archery activities  

  • Trains other staff in the safety procedures at the archery range  

  • Ensures campers and staff follow safety procedures  

  • Maintains archery equipment, including bows, arrows, strings, and targets  

  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.   

  • Secure and lock all archery equipment and the range at the end of each session.   

  • Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.   

  • Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED preferred 

  • A heart for other and a mind towards Christ 

  • Should be self-motivated and teachable 

  • One year experience leading sports, recreation, or archery activities preferred, or  

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities  

  • A willingness toabide by The Salvation Army doctrinal statement and Camp Hoblitzelle’s policies  

  • Certification in achery instruction - National Archery Association (Level I Archery Certification) or being willing to be certified by the start of camp employment

  • CPR & First Aid certified or capable of passing by June 15, 2026 (training provided by Camp Hoblitzelle during staff training if needed).  

  • Must be able to pass a state and federal background check. 

Additional Information:

Camp Staff Training will be heldJune6– June 14, 2026,and participation isrequired. The 2026 summer Camp program sessions will be heldJune 15 - July 26, 2026.If you are unable to work the entire season, please let us know on your application.
