Apprentices gain hands-on experience in pruning, tree removal, disease management, and equipment use while also learning safety procedures. This role typically involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires physical stamina. Many apprenticeships include classroom instruction to complement on-the-job training. Upon completion, apprentices may qualify for certification and advance to higher positions in arboriculture.

What tasks and responsibilities can I expect as an arborist apprentice?

As an Arborist Apprentice, you will assist with a variety of tree care tasks including pruning, planting, removal, and performing routine maintenance under the guidance of certified arborists. Teamwork is essential, as you’ll work closely with other crew members to complete projects efficiently and support one another during challenging tasks. Over time, apprentices are given increasing responsibility and may progress toward more advanced roles or certifications as they gain experience.
