How much do arbitration jobs pay per hour?
What is the difference between Arbitration vs Mediator?
| Aspect | Arbitration | Mediator |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Decides disputes by rendering a binding or non-binding decision | Facilitates negotiation between parties to reach a mutual agreement |
| Credentials | Often requires legal or specialized training, certifications vary by jurisdiction | Typically trained in conflict resolution or mediation techniques, certification preferred |
| Work Environment | Private, often in legal or corporate settings | Neutral setting, may be in offices or online |
| Usage | Used in legal disputes, contractual disagreements, industry-specific conflicts | Used to resolve disputes informally, encourage communication |
While arbitration involves a neutral arbitrator making a binding or non-binding decision to resolve disputes, mediators facilitate discussions to help parties reach a voluntary agreement. Both roles require specialized skills and are used in different dispute resolution contexts within legal and corporate environments.
