Job description

Surveys old Public Address (PA) or PBX/Telephone systems.
Repairs broken or defective equipment found while surveying.
Inspects, removes old PA systems and installs or replaces with temporary systems.
Ensures that temporary PA systems interface with PBX/Telephone systems prior to installation of new ones.
Coordinates and installs new PA systems.
Programs new PA systems.
Installs and programs temporary passing bells.
Wires and tests the new PA systems.
Interfaces the newly installed PA systems with the existing Voice Over IP (VOIP) system.
Cleans up and removes temporary PA systems.
Removes and decommissions the old PBX/Telephone, PBX phones and old Uninterrupted PowerSupply (UPS).
Plans, analyzes and coordinates site equipment requirements.
Coordinates with Project Managers in establishing project priority lists.
Requirements
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
OR Candidates without a bachelor's degree must have at least 10 years of experience. Four of the
ten years of experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. OR Completion of a recognized low voltage apprenticeship program.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years full time paid professional hands-on experience related to the above duties in a similar of equivalent position.
  • Experience working with on-site construction management teams as well as with campus administrators, faculty and staff.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • BICSI Technician Certification (TECH), Cisco Certified Technician (CCT), Certified Valcom PA
