Job description

About this role
About BlackRock:
BlackRock is a global leader in investment management, investing and protecting over $14 trillion (USD) in assets worldwide. Our technology platform powers investment operations at global scale and enables better financial outcomes for millions of investors.
As a technologist at BlackRock, you'll work on systems that combine the pace and ownership of a product company with the scale, complexity, and impact of one of the world's most sophisticated financial institutions.
Team Overview:
The Aladdin Private Markets - Whole Portfolio team builds and operates the core platforms and integrations that enable clients to manage public and private market investments through a single, end to end investment operating ecosystem.
The team is highly engineering driven, with a strong focus on scalability, data quality, resilience, and auditability, and partners closely with product, client implementations, and operations to deliver reliable, production grade outcomes for complex institutional clients.
Role Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (VP) to play a key role in advancing the Whole Portfolio Solution. This role sits at the intersection of product engineering and technical leadership.
You will work across UI, backend services, and integration layers, owning complex problem spaces that directly impact how the world's largest asset managers operate public and private market portfolios. This is a hands on leadership role with real architectural influence and ownership of production systems.
As the Aladdin ecosystem continues to incorporate AI assisted workflows and automation, you'll help identify and deliver pragmatic, high value use cases that improve reliability, developer productivity, and client outcomes.
What You'll Do:
  • Design, build, and evolve end to end full stack solutions spanning frontends, backend services, and integration pipelines
  • Provide technical leadership for complex domains within the Whole Portfolio platform, influencing architecture and long term design decisions
  • Partner closely with product managers and business stakeholders to translate private markets workflows into scalable, production ready systems
  • Drive engineering excellence across code quality, testing, observability, reliability, and CI/CD practices
  • Lead by example in modern engineering practices, including AI assisted development, automation, and developer tooling
  • Own services in production: monitoring, performance tuning, incident response, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and guide senior and mid level engineers, raising the technical bar of the team

What We're Looking For:
Required
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems at scale
  • Strong expertise in C#/.NET or Java, and React with TypeScript (full stack depth required)
  • Willingness and ability to learn and contribute in both Java and .NET codebases, using modern GenAI assisted development tools to accelerate ramp up and maintain engineering velocity
  • We value technical depth in at least one core language and a demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly over prior experience in every stack
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems in production environments
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture without formal authority
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with product, operations, and non engineering stakeholders
  • Experience working in Agile teams and delivering iteratively in a fast moving environment
  • Demonstrated experience using AI assisted development tools as part of real engineering workflows

Nice to Have:
  • Python experience
  • Cloud experience (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP also valuable)
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps)
  • Search or data platform experience (e.g., Elasticsearch)
  • Financial services, SaaS, or complex enterprise domain experience
