Medical Assistant Apprenticeship

Position Summary:

This apprenticeship opportunity is a collaboration between Access Community Health Centers and Madison College designed to prepare future Medical Assistants for long-term success. This position begins as a Registrar in our call center and transitions into a clinic-based MA Apprentice position upon successful completion of the second semester of the Madison College Medical Assistant Industry Collaboration Program.

Starting in the Call Center provides apprentices with a strong foundation in Epic HealthLink, patient communication, appointment scheduling, and insurance processes. These core competencies directly support MA coursework, clinical training, and preparation for national certification.

Apprentices are expected to meet all academic requirements of the program, attend classes on the Madison College campus, and work onsite at Access Community Health Centers in the Registrar role throughout the apprenticeship period.

$0 COST TO YOU: If accepted, Access will cover 100% of program-related costs, including tuition, books, required equipment, and all testing/certification fees.

ACCUPLACER Requirement

  • Applicants must pass the ACCUPLACER exam through Madison College as part of the application process.
  • Access Community Health Centers will cover the cost of the exam prior to the final interview.

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must pass the ACCUPLACER exam through Madison College
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career as a Medical Assistant
  • Willingness to start in a Call Center/Registrar role before transitioning to clinic work
  • Ability to commit to part‑time MA coursework while working full‑time
  • Basic computer skills and comfort learning new technology
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior customer service, call center, or healthcare experience
  • Interest in working in a community health setting
  • Fluency in English and Spanish

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly compensation starts at $20.00 and will be adjusted upon obtaining Medical Assistant Certification
