Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and eager Painter Apprentice to join our dynamic team. This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in automotive painting projects, providing opportunities to develop essential skills in construction painting, restoration, and surface preparation. If you’re passionate about learning the trade and eager to grow your career, this is the perfect opportunity to start building your future in the painting industry.

ExperienceNo prior professional experience required; however, this candidate will have some experience prepping and painting vehicles. They will also be familiar with equipment used and the safety precautious when prepping and using the paint. *Wearing a respirator in this work environment is required*

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
  • Removes rust, grease and dirt from work surface.
  • Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
  • Mixes paint / primer / sealer according to specifications.
  • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
  • Paints surface and or edges of vehicle parts using sprayer.
  • Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
  • Color sands and buffs away any imperfection in topcoat.
  • Maintains tools and keeps equipment and work stall clean and in a proper state of repair.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some auto body experience and/or tech school desired
  • Must have a passion and aptitude for collision repair technologies
  • Must have an impressive work ethic
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
  • Must have an unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to operate a standard-transmission vehicle
