Job description

MCAT Solutions is a small but rapidly growing company specializing in low-voltage controls and automation systems. Our primary focus is on Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and Mechanical Control Systems within data centers in and around the Columbus, Ohio area. Travel to various job sites may be required.The Low Voltage Electrician is a hands-on role responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low-voltage electrical systems, including HVAC and building automation systems. This role goes beyond basic installation work and includes system commissioning, advanced troubleshooting, and direct collaboration with project teams and clients.Schedule:Monday-Friday: 6:00am to 4:30pmResponsibilities Include:Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling systems, including Cat 5/6, coax, fiber optic, and control wiringInstall low-voltage systems and building automation components in commercial and industrial environmentsRead and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and construction documents to ensure accurate installationsMount and wire control panels, sensors, actuators, and network devicesBend conduit, install cable pathways, and secure cable supports according to code and project specificationsPerform system diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issuesSupport the startup and commissioning of control systems, including device calibration, point-to-point testing, and functional verificationConduct inspections, testing, and routine maintenance of installed systemsAccurately document installation progress, test results, and system configurationsCollaborate effectively with Project Managers, contractors, and General ContractorsAdhere to OSHA, NEC, and company safety standardsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Completion of a Low Voltage Electrical Apprenticeship or comparable experienceStrong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentationProficiency in the use of electrical test equipment and diagnostic toolsMinimum of 3-5 years of relevant experienceAbility to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in active construction environmentsStrong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skillsPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 poundsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods throughout the workdayCapable of working from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and other elevated platformsAbility to work in confined spaces and in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and dusty environmentsAbility to distinguish colors for proper wiring identificationAbility to safely use power tools, lifts, and testing equipmentAdditional Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalentReliable transportation to and from job sitesAbility to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, for safety, coordination, and documentation purposesAbility to follow instructions, safety procedures, and company policiesWhy Join MCAT Solutions?We offer a supportive, team-oriented work environment with opportunities for career growth in a rapidly expanding industry.
