An Apprentice Tiling job involves learning the skills needed to become a professional tiler while working under the supervision of an experienced tradesperson. Apprentices assist with measuring, cutting, and laying tiles, as well as preparing surfaces and applying adhesives and grout. They gain hands-on experience in both residential and commercial tiling projects. This role typically combines on-the-job training with formal education or trade certifications.
As an Apprentice Tiling, your typical day will involve assisting experienced tilers with preparing surfaces, mixing adhesives, cutting tiles to size, and installing tiles on floors, walls, or countertops. You'll also help with cleaning work areas, organizing materials, and learning proper techniques for aligning and spacing tiles. Expect to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in dusty or noisy construction environments, and to spend much of your day on your feet. Over time, your responsibilities will grow as you gain hands-on skills and confidence, eventually preparing you for advancement in the tiling trade.
To thrive as an Apprentice Tiling, you need basic math and measuring skills, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to learn on the job from experienced tile setters. Familiarity with hand tools, tile cutters, spirit levels, and safety equipment is typically required, while any OSHA safety certifications can be advantageous. Strong attention to detail, reliability, good communication, and a positive attitude are valuable soft skills in this apprenticeship. Tile Setter Apprentice
Pay: $17.00–$20.00+ per hour, depending on experience and skillset
We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Tile Setter Apprentice who wants to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in the construction industry.
You will work directly alongside experienced Tile Setters and skilled craftsmen, gaining hands-on experience with commercial tile installation while developing the skills needed to become a professional Tile Setter.
This position also provides the opportunity to participate in our Apprenticeship Program, combining hands-on field experience with continued development in the trade.
Work alongside experienced Tile Setters on commercial projects
Assist with setting, cutting, grouting, and finishing tile
Prepare surfaces and work areas for tile installation
Mix and prepare setting materials
Stage and organize tile, tools, and materials
