Job description

Clerk A, Testing Center

The job of Clerk A, Testing Center is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment process of students; working with individual and/or small groups of students; ensuring compliance with legal and administrative requirements; and providing clerical support to assigned school personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment.

Required Skills:

  • Operate standard office equipment and relevant software applications.
  • Apply behavior management and crisis intervention techniques to support a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Utilize effective instructional practices to support student learning and implementation of the high school curriculum.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Board policies and applicable district, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Interpret and follow complex written and verbal instructions while preparing clear, routine written communications.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain accurate data and records using established procedures.
  • Operate job-related equipment safely and effectively.
  • Analyze routine issues, exercise sound judgment, and implement appropriate solutions within established guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and district information.
  • Work effectively with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds while demonstrating flexibility, professionalism, and sound interpersonal skills.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Student Assessment & Instructional Support
    • Administers tests to referred students for the purpose of assisting teachers and other professionals in assessing students' proficiency.
    • Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
    • Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teacher(s) and/or the Dean of Students of students' behavior.
    • Procures supplies and materials needed for the administration of assessments for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items as needed.
  • Student Supervision & Behavior Management
    • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
    • Monitors students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
    • Monitors student absences for the purpose of identifying issues and disseminating information to appropriate parties.
  • Administrative & Operational Support
    • Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic records for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
    • Performs general clerical functions for the purpose of supporting office operations and/or relieving and substituting for other clerks as needed.
    • Prepares a variety of documents for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or supervisory staff in meeting mandated requirements.
    • Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction related to the testing center.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit pertaining to District 219.

Terms of Employment: 187 day working calendar

Working Conditions: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
