Job description

Job Title: Field Support Technician I

Reports To: Supervisor - Field Support

Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Bonus Pool: Shares

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary

The Field Support Technician I provides hands-on service and support for cabling infrastructure and IT hardware across retail store locations. This role maintains and repairs store endpoints and phone system hardware while assisting with networking equipment and on-site servers. For larger-scale installations and remodels, the technician works primarily under the direct supervision of a senior technician. Frequent to full-time travel is required, along with a strong sense of urgency in escalating issues that impact operational stability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • On-Site Technology Service & Support (50%):
    • Provide basic on-site setup, maintenance, and support for store endpoints.
    • Maintain and repair phone system hardware.
    • Assist with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking equipment.
    • Assist in providing technical support for on-site servers across store locations.
  • Cabling Infrastructure (50%):
    • Provide basic on-site cabling infrastructure service and support.
    • Perform cabling infrastructure maintenance, terminations, and repairs.


Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of related hands-on work experience (e.g., field service, low-voltage cabling, telecommunications, desktop support, hardware repair).
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of computer applications, telecommunications, networking, and hardware (workstation and server components).
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in safely operating powered hand tools.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a 1-year apprenticeship program (sponsorship under a licensed journeyman is provided).

  • Ability to work from ladders, roofs, and within confined spaces as needed.
  • Visual acuity (close, distance, color, night vision, and focus adjustment) and clear hearing/speaking capabilities.


Work Environment & Schedule

  • Varied work conditions across office, store, warehouse, manufacturing, and active construction environments with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent travel with variable schedules, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends or holidays (overnight travel/work is seldom required).
