Job Title: Scuffer/Painter Apprentice $19.50, plus $3 shift differential

Summary/Objective:

Under general supervision, the Scuffer/Painter Apprentice scuffs parts prior to the painting process on medium to large plastic injection molded products; performs inspections, clean ups, storage, and disposal of paint products; and operates various tools and equipment.

The scuffing position is also a painting apprentice position that will train to paint as time allows. The trained apprentice can fill in as a painter as required and eventually move into the painting position over time but will still be required to Scuff as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Scuff parts as required to promote a clean painted finish.
  • Spray paint plastic parts in a controlled environment.
  • Mix paints and cure accelerators.
  • Utilize cleaning solutions to prepare surfaces.
  • Clean spray equipment and maintain paint booth.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and experience required for the role.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 2+ yearsโ€™ related work experience a plus but not required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of concepts in spray-paint procedures.
  • Industrial or automotive spray-painting experience a plus but not required..
  • Strong attention to details, able to multi-task.
  • Must be punctual and dependable, able to work with little supervision.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

This position has no direct reports.

Working Conditions:

  1. Primarily working indoors.
  2. Frequently exposed to marking chemicals, paints, ink, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  3. Standing for several hours.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving and/or high temperature mechanical equipment and parts. Employees are regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, and climb. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds is assigned to hanging for the paint line. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
