Are you a passionate and driven Electrical Engineer eager to design cutting-edge control systems?

Control Assemblies is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Plymouth, MN. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of automation solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Learn & Design: Assist with electrical control panel designs, schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials while learning company, NEC, and UL standards.
  • Create & Optimize: Develop detailed electrical schematics, 3D panel layouts, and bills of materials using EPLAN Pro Panel. Design custom control panels, optimizing for performance, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Program & Test: Develop and test basic PLC and HMI/SCADA applications with guidance from experienced engineering team members.
  • Support Projects: Help select industrial control hardware and support system documentation, shop testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate: Work with engineering, production, project management, and customer service to complete accurate, high-quality work on schedule.
  • Grow Your Skills: Build technical knowledge through hands-on project experience, coaching, and exposure to a variety of industrial automation applications.

What You'll Bring:

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, vocational training, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience in Electrical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, Controls, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred. Bachelor's degree is beneficial but not required.
  • Preferred EPLAN Electric P8 or Pro Panel experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical design for custom automation. 
  • Entry-level candidates with relevant technical training, internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, military experience, or hands-on project experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and industrial automation concepts, including control panel design, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, motor controls, and structured programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to electrical design software, PLC platforms, or HMI software through education, training, certifications, or practical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established guidelines while developing independent judgment, problem-solving skills, and technical proficiency under supervision.
