SUMMARY

 

University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Superintendent to lead medium and large-scale data center projects, ensuring exceptional quality, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction. The Sheetmetal Superintendent is responsible for directing and coordinating all field installation activities for the sheet metal scope on major data center projects. This role ensures that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with UMEC’s quality standards and client expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor sheet metal foremen, journeymen, and apprentices
  • Coordinate daily field operations, manpower planning, and work sequencing
  • Ensure installation meets plans, specifications, codes, and UMEC standards
  • Oversee onsite fabrication and installation of ductwork systems and equipment
  • Promote and enforce UMEC’s safety program and OSHA guidelines
  • Collaborate with GCs, trade partners, project managers, and BIM teams
  • Track productivity, materials, tools, and equipment requirements
  • Support cost control, RFIs, and as-built documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • 8+ years of sheet metal installation experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory or superintendent experience
  • Experience with medium and large data center or missioncritical projects
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and ductwork installation
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications, and BIM models
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with prefabrication workflows
  • Apprenticeship completion or equivalent training
  • Familiarity with Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, etc
  • Understanding of LEAN and Last Planner System
  • Travel to job site locations in Greater Phoenix as needed.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

 

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Familiarity with project management/document control software
  • Familiarity with construction/financial software packages
