Who you are: 

The Beverage Apprentice works hand in hand with the Beverage Director, Beverage Teams, and Receiving Teams on all aspects of cellar logistics, inventory management upkeep of the various cellar areas and other beverage storage areas. The ability to be extremely detail oriented, organized, flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient is in your DNA. Superior written and verbal communication skills, sense of urgency, empathy and attention to detail is crucial. The Beverage Apprentice will be essential to the successful operations of our bar and wine teams, maintaining and enhancing organizational systems over time.

What you'll do:

  • Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality
  • Coordinate and oversee all incoming beverage deliveries by verifying invoices, vintages, bottle sizes, quantities, product quality, and ensuring all products are received, documented, and stored promptly
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready beverage storage areas, including all wine rooms, walk-in storage, wine walls, and satellite beverage locations
  • Bin, label, map, and organize all wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic products while maintaining accurate storage locations and inventory records
  • Monitor beverage inventory labels, maintain restaurant, event, BTG, pairing, liquor, beer, wine, and NA pars, and communicate replenishment needs to Beverage leadership
  • Assist Beverage Leadership with strategic purchasing, forecasting, product planning, and identifying upcoming shortages using sales trends, inventory levels, and operational needs
  • Coordinate the movement of beverage inventory throughout the property by pulling products for restaurant and event operations, delivering inventory to service areas, and returning and reconciling unused product after events
  • Maintain accurate beverage information within Craftable and POS systems by updating product locations, inventory data, beverage lists, menus, pours, pack sizes, and pricing as directed
  • Scan, map, and process invoices while maintaining accurate beverage records, tracking credits, and communicating vendor discrepancies, damaged products, corked wines, and receiving issues
  • Participate in and help lead monthly beverage inventories by counting wine, liquor, beer, and non-alcoholic inventory, investigating variances, and assisting with inventory reconciliation
  • Support the daily operational needs of the beverage program by reviewing end-of-day beverage communications, coordinating organizational projects, and ensuring beverage readiness across all service areas
  • Lead and maintain beverage organization initiatives, including cellar restructures, storage improvements, labeling systems, and infrastructure projects that improve operational efficiency
  • Ensure beverage products are stored safely and according to established standards while maintaining accurate bin locations and inventory integrity across all storage areas
  • Train and support team members on beverage organization, receiving procedures, inventory standards, binning practices, and operational best practices while promoting accountability
  • Collaborate closely with the Beverage Directors, Head Bartenders, Restaurant Management, and Events teams to ensure seamless execution of daily operations and special events
  • Perform additional beverage and cellar operations duties as assigned to support the continued success and growth of Manhatta's beverage program
