This Mechanic Apprenticeship will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of high-speed processing and packaging equipment. This includes troubleshooting, analyzing root causes, supporting improvements, testing, installing, and conducting all mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
How you will contribute
This is an apprenticeship program for Mondelēz International. You are a key ingredient in changing how the world snacks.
With coaching, you will operate and maintain equipment to deliver on our safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets. You will use execute all standard work processes on your equipment using AM (autonomous maintenance) and PM (progressive maintenance) standards and ensure that safety processes are observed, and that quality assurance activities are performed. You will understand the losses in their area and equipment and report them.
During you Apprenticeship, you will:
  • Attend class 2-3 days a week for ~6-8 semesters.

  • Work at the Bakery in parallel with your class schedule for a combination up to 40 hours a week between school and work combined.

  • Class and work schedules are aligned with your Supervisor/Trainer at the beginning of each class/semester.

  • The costs of tuition, books (stipend), and tool are covered by Mondelez if the apprentice achieves program requirements set forth by Mondelez.

  • Performs all duties in compliance with plant rules and practices regarding safety, conduct, sanitation, and good housekeeping.

  • Ensures conformance with all Safety, GMP's, health code regulations, NEC, NFPA standards and Food Safety Policies

  • At least 1 years of manufacturing experience in similar positions.

  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Ability to work well in a team-based environment with limited supervision.

  • Able to learn and apply Continuous Improvement tools (IL6S, HPO, TPM)

  • Capable of working effectively as part of a High-Performance Team.

  • Ability to problem solve and help with a practical solution.

More about this role
Education / Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Served and satisfactorily completed an approved Apprenticeship or Training

Job specific requirements:
  • Working knowledge to include (but not restricted to) pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, machining of parts, some electrical knowledge, hand tool usage, and welding.

  • At least 2-4 years of manufacturing experience as a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic or successful completion of an approved Apprenticeship Program.

  • Ability to work well in a team-based environment with limited supervision

  • Ability to problem solve and help with practical solutions.

  • Ability to analyse scenarios and provide root cause analysis.

Preferred:
  • 2-4 years of manufacturing experience

  • Able to learn and apply Continuous Improvement tools (TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

  • Strong soft skills regarding training and communication for knowledge transfer

  • Experience with high-speed packaging lines and production equipment in food processing, chemical, or pharmaceutical industries

  • Familiar with SAP - PM, work order, and asset creation/management

Physical Demands:
The following physical demands are examples of duties that may be performed:
  • Climb steps

  • Lift 50 pounds and maintain balance

  • Ability to perform duties in extreme varying temperatures

  • Crawl over, under, and into equipment as necessary to perform job duties

  • Work from ladders and lifts

Work schedule: Monday to Friday 40 hours a week
Salary and Benefits:
The hourly wage for this position is $26.52/hour. The position offers healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, and paid time off, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Some of these benefits have eligibility requirements.
