The Plate Maker Apprentice is responsible for operating the CTP Plate Setter for offset printing process. This position reports directly to the Graphics Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Operates the Computer to Plate "CTP" unit called the Magnus. Checking chemicals, handling and moving metal plates to pressroom staging area and recycle area.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of all work performed during the platemaking process.
  • Make all plates and verify they are accurate to customer approved proof, die vinyl and blanket.
  • Remake any Die vinyls and blankets.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
  • Perform all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Graphics Supervisor.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, if necessary.
  • Update the plate status in Schedule Assistant and maintain a log of plates and blankets made.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-year degree or 2 to 5 years of production experience in manufacturing environment in work related field.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Good understanding of 4-color process.
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficiency mathematical ability including understanding of measurements.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
