Job description

Commercial Drop Ceiling Technician
WORKSITES: 70-MILE RADIUS OF QUAKERTOWN (Tri-State Area,PA)
General Summary of Position
The Commercial Drop Ceiling Technician is expected toapply plasterboard or other wallboard to ceilings or interior walls ofbuildings. They may also apply or mount acoustical tiles or blocks, strips, orsheets of shock-absorbing materials to ceilings and walls of buildings toreduce or reflect sound.
Essential Functions:
• Accurately measure height, width, length, and otherproportions, including but not limited to establishing correct ceiling heights.
• Basic material take-off to ensure proper materialselection and quantity needed.
• Work with blueprints or instructions fromsupervisors.
• Read blueprints and perform proper layout for work tobe put in place.
• Examine blueprints and specifications to determinetypes of grid and tiles and where they are appropriately installed.
• Work with materials such as wood, metal, plastic,fiberglass, and/or drywall.
• Utilize appropriate tools to build or repairstructural components
• Join materials with nails, screws, staples, oradhesives.
• Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, andlasers to ensure everything is level and secure.
• Check work along the way to ensure it's up to codeand specifications.
• Install all types of ceiling grid systems (standard,slotted, and specialty products)
• Inspects drywall partitions, mechanical mountings,and masonry surface for plumb and level, using a laser level.
• Hang or mechanically fasten support wires foracoustical ceiling grid from building structure.
• Hangs dry lines (stretched string) to wall molding toguide positioning of main runners.
• Nails or screws molding to wall to support and sealsjoint between ceiling tile and wall.
• Scribes and cuts edges of tile to fit wall where wallmolding is not specified.
• Measures and marks surface to lay out work accordingto blueprints and drawings.
• Install acoustical ceiling main runners and crossrunners.
• Cuts tiles for fixture and borders, using keyholesaw, and inserts tiles into supporting framework.
• Erect scaffolding.
• Always exercise the proper use of PPE.
• Coordinate with other trades on project to ensure anefficient installation flow.
• Attend required safety training as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
• Knowledge and experience working with commercialcarpentry tools and building materials
• Knowledge and understanding of construction safetydevices and PPE
• 2+ years commercial ceiling installation experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Participation in a secondary or post-secondary tradecurriculum or 4 years apprenticeship program in Carpentry
• 4+ years' commercial ceiling installationexperience

Work Environment:
Carpenters work indoors and outdoors on many types ofconstruction projects, with varying degrees of exposure to the elements.
Physical Requirements:
• Due to the physical nature of the position, employeemust have full dexterity of their hands and arms.
• Employee must be able to see objects close and faraway
• At times, multiple sounds can be heard as employee isworking on job, employee must have the ability to focus on the sound inparticular that is associated with the task they are completing. Employees with any sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit forduty to perform this position.
• Due to the safety sensitive nature of the position,at all times, employee must be fit for duty and not report to work under theinfluence of a mind altering or performance altering substance. At notime, should employee be found to be possessing or using a mind or performancealtering substance while performing any Company task.
