The IT Architect IV (SCADA) is responsible for designing the structure of specific IT systems and supervising programs to ensure the architecture is properly implemented. This role will apply technical skills and work with internal/external business partners to create a vision and roadmap. This is a challenging position that will enable you to utilize your technical, problem solving, communication, and leadership skills. We appreciate a new perspective on solutions for our ever-evolving IT needs!

Responsibilities/Expectations:
  • Decomposes systems into smaller components and viewpoints, along with the enforced rules that enable consistent design across the enterprise
  • Defines the application tiers, frameworks, components types and interfaces; specifies and provides ownership of reusable application components or reusable application code and supports the Enterprise Application Integration
  • Defines the visual roadmap and performs design reviews
  • Monitors emerging standards, sets standards and technologies to be used by the enterprise
  • Crafts the architecture vision, conceptualizes and experiments with alternative architectural approaches; builds models, components and interface specification documents; validates the architecture against requirements and assumptions
  • Translates business requirements into repeatable design strategies, systems qualities and patterns
  • Solves problems with developers, addresses ongoing revisions/improvements of the architecture
  • Analyzes competitors, products, strategies and product generation processes
  • Surveys external emerging developments, new technologies, standards and methodologies
  • Mentors, teaches, consults with other team members
  • Develops and maintains SCADA architectures, integrating emerging technologies like Machine Learning and AI
  • Ensures seamless integration of SCADA systems with other company processes and enterprise architecture
  • Improves system efficiency, provides troubleshooting guidance, and implements cybersecurity measures. Offers on-call leadership support
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in IT related field; a minimum six (6) years' developing software systems and IT industry experience
  • Preferred: Minimum of ten (10) years' experience and prior oil/gas industry experience
Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:
  • Less than 20% travel required, including the possibility for some international travel
Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Needs proficient knowledge of architecture principles design
  • Needs knowledge of application/interface design
  • Knowledge of all areas of IT, especially data center functions (servers, DB, networks, security)
  • Experience creating and maintaining large enterprise architectures
  • Proficiency in SCADA software, HMI/UI design, back-end development, database management, automated testing, DevOps, programming (Python, VBScript, JavaScript, IEC 61131-3), and knowledge of interfaces and communication protocols
  • Experienced with project lifecycle fundamentals, Agile delivery, IT practices, policies, governance, and cybersecurity awareness
  • Preferred: Experience in midstream oil and gas SCADA for pipeline control, with a deep understanding of pipeline automation, operations, engineering, measurement, control, and commercial concepts
  • Proficient knowledge of scripting and how scripts work
