ION Application Support Engineer

Location: New York City, NY 10019 (Onsite with potential for Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Interview Process: Video Interview followed by In-Person Interview

Strong experience with ION MMI/ECN trading platforms, FIX Protocol, Fixed Income & FX products, Unix/Linux shell scripting, Sybase SQL, Perl/Python/VBA, and front-office production support in investment banking environments.
Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ION Application Support Engineer to support electronic trading platforms and related systems within Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, and Equities environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with the ION trading platform, FIX connectivity, and production support in investment banking environments.

This role involves supporting front-office trading applications, troubleshooting production issues, coordinating with global IT teams, and ensuring smooth day-to-day trading operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical and functional support for ION trading and processing applications.
  • Support electronic trading systems related to Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, and Equities.
  • Handle production support activities including after-hours support for batch processing and operational activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, connectivity, and performance issues across trading systems.
  • Support internal investment banking users including Traders, Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, QA, and Risk teams.
  • Work with in-house FIX Trading Gateways and manage FIX protocol-related activities.
  • Gather business requirements and coordinate with development teams based in Paris.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience supporting ION trading platforms (MMI, ECN, Agency Trading applications).
  • Hands-on experience with FIX Protocol and electronic trading systems.
  • Strong Treasury and Fixed Income support experience.
  • Good understanding of financial products including:
    • Bonds
    • CDs
    • CPs
    • Repo
    • Futures
    • Interest Rate Swaps
    • FX Spot
    • FX Forwards
    • FX Swaps
    • Derivatives
  • Strong Unix/Linux administration and Shell scripting skills.
  • Experience with Unix tools such as:
    • awk
    • sed
    • grep
  • Strong SQL skills with Sybase DBMS and Stored Procedures.
  • Experience with Perl, Python, or VBA scripting.
  • Understanding of electronic financial markets and trading workflows.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in investment banking or capital markets environments.
  • Exposure to Front Office trading support.
  • Experience working with globally distributed IT teams.
  • Knowledge of market connectivity and low-latency trading systems.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field preferred.
