As an Apprentice Furniture Maker, your days are usually spent learning hands-on by assisting experienced craftspersons with tasks such as measuring materials, operating woodworking machines, assembling parts, and finishing furniture pieces. You’ll often rotate through different projects and workspaces, gaining exposure to various furniture styles and construction techniques. Collaboration is common, as you’ll regularly communicate with journeyman makers, designers, and sometimes clients. Expect to split your time between the workshop floor, assisting with project setups, and occasionally helping with design or planning phases. Over time, apprentices gradually take on more complex tasks as their skills and confidence grow.
