Job description

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Job takeoffs and pricing.
  • Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Stays current with all estimating software and attends training as needed and/or required.
  • Works with VP of Estimating as needed on Estimating database development and maintenance.
  • Works with VP of Estimating to develop estimating spreadsheets.
  • Works with VP of Estimating to ensure smooth and timely project turnover from Estimating to Project Management.
  • Ability to work with vendors and subs to secure scopes and final pricing including but not limited to calling and or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
  • Ability to clearly write scope letter.
  • Ability to lead and finalize job estimates.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience required:
  • 10 years commercial experience in plumbing or heating estimation or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 3 years' experience as a Journeyman.
  • 10 years prior estimating experience.

Job Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
  • Good math ability.
  • Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Estimation and/or Quicken experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level in front of peers, co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to conduct scope reviews with clients/customers.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience
  • Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Eyesight correctable to 20/50
  • Capable of job site tours, climbing ladders and on/off equipment, etc.

Special Requirements:
  • Valid Drivers License
