Job Title
Reliability Electrician V | Day Shift
Position Overview
Shaw Industries is seeking a Reliability Electrician V on 1st Shift (Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) is the highest-tier electrical maintenance technician role, responsible for expert-level troubleshooting, advanced automation & controls programming, and leadership in maintaining the plant's most complex electrical, Robotics, automation, and control systems. This role ensures equipment operates at peak efficiency and lowest reasonable cost. The Reliability Electrician V also serves as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, leading Reliability Electricians II-IV and supporting large-scale improvements across the facility.
Position Expectations
The Reliability Electrician V executes duties with strong focus on:
Exceptional safe work practices, complying with OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and all plant standards. High-quality, precision electrical work supporting "Great Products & Service." Consistent adherence to standards and best practices that ensure reliability and repeatability. Knowledge-sharing and mentorship, guiding Reliability Electricians II-IV while continuing to expand personal expertise in advanced automation and controls. Continuous improvement, providing feedback on equipment, work processes, and improvement opportunities to peers and leadership.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
1. Maintain & Optimize Manufacturing Electrical Systems
Provide expert-level maintenance on highly automated and complex equipment including:
  • MCCs, drives, motors, and power distribution equipment
  • PLCs, HMIs, scada, dcs, control loops, robotics, servo/stepper systems, and other automation platforms

2. Lead Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs
Perform and lead complex troubleshooting activities:
  • Differentiate between mechanical, electrical, controls, process, and product-related issues
  • Troubleshoot, Diagnose, and repair complex equipment failures across automation, control logic, and instrumentation
  • Develop corrective actions and lead implementation
  • Update electrical schematics and documentation accurately and promptly

3. Lead Proactive Maintenance Development
Support and develop maintenance strategy:
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM): Execute high-level inspections, testing, and evaluations
  • Condition Maintenance (CM): Lead repairs/replacements identified through PM & PdM
  • Develop detailed job plans and ensure accurate updates to prints and procedures

4. Support Major Projects & Process Improvements
Execute work orders and lead improvement initiatives:
  • Design, program, and implement complex PLC logic and automated system changes
  • Install, integrate, and configure advanced control systems, HMIs, robotics, and related equipment
  • Support capital projects and new equipment integration efforts

5. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor Reliability Electricians II-IV in advanced troubleshooting and controls
  • Provide technical direction on major work assignments and project execution
  • Serve as a facility SME for electrical systems, automation platforms, and controls strategy

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED (will seek guidance on IF we can add this)
  • Completion of Reliability Electrician IV requirements (Demonstration of skills)
  • Previous experience in electrical manufacturing
  • Expert-level troubleshooting and controls experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design and modify PLC and automation programs

Preferred
  • 5 years of experience in electrical manufacturing
  • Technical degree, apprenticeship, or recognized industrial electrical certification
  • Extensive automation, robotics, or motion control experience
  • Strong PdM experience (IR, ultrasound, data analytics, oscilloscopes)
  • Experience leading major reliability or automation project
