Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, repair, replace, and connect/disconnect electricity meters in accordance with work orders, technical standards, and safety requirements.
  • Perform cold and hot commissioning of new meter points, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
  • Diagnose, investigate, and document meter failures, communication issues, and system anomalies, escalating complex issues as required.
  • Operate field testing and diagnostic equipment, analyze results, and produce clear, accurate technical reports.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, and materials to support efficient and safe field execution.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain tools and equipment to ensure they remain in safe operating condition.
  • Conduct routine inspections of assigned sites to identify maintenance requirements, safety risks, or hazardous conditions.
  • Utilize a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, area‑specific metering equipment, ladders, testing equipment, generators, and department vehicles to complete assigned work.
  • Travel to client sites throughout Ontario, including occasional overnight stays as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support field operations and project delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • MEARIE Meter designation required; Level 3 graduates may be considered.
  • 4+ years of experience in electricity metering servicing, maintenance, installation or repairs
  • In‑depth knowledge of Schneider, Elster, SEL, and other utility and commercial metering systems.
  • Proficiency with industry testing and diagnostic equipment, including Fluke, CANDURA, Megger, ION Analyzer, Manta, and Omicron.
  • Experience supporting or working on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar, and wind energy sites considered a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of electrical meter maintenance, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams, for reporting, documentation, and communication.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of light equipment, power tools, and hand tools used in field environments.
  • Ability to follow and interpret oral and written instructions, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prepare, and manage materials, tools, and supplies to complete daily work orders efficiently.
  • Demonstrated skill in operating assigned equipment and vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Proven ability to resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and solutions‑focused manner.
