About the Role
Automated Mechanical is looking for a motivated HVAC Apprentice to join our service team and build a career in commercial HVAC maintenance. This entry-level role is centered on preventative maintenance and service work, giving you hands-on experience alongside licensed technicians while you work toward your own certifications and license. It's a strong fit for someone eager to learn the trade from the ground up.

What You'll Do

  • Assist licensed technicians with scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as filter changes, coil cleaning, belt and pulley inspection, and lubrication of moving parts
  • Help diagnose and troubleshoot routine service issues under direct supervision
  • Learn to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals
  • Support technicians during service calls, start-ups, and equipment inspections
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and observations for the lead technician
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on every job site
  • Follow all safety procedures, EPA guidelines, and company policies
  • Transport tools, parts, and equipment to and from job sites as needed
  • Attend company-provided training sessions and pursue progress toward HVAC certification

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to work toward EPA 608 Certification
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
  • Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Strong attendance and reliability

Preferred

  • Enrollment in or completion of a trade school or HVAC training program
  • Prior experience in a mechanical, construction, or maintenance environment
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
