The Construction Projects team of the Provo City Parks Maintenance division is looking for a high-performing individuals to fill their seasonal part-time laborer positions. These positions assist with parks construction projects including building, maintaining, and beautifying City recreational areas. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting these services for Provo residents are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?

$17.00 to $22.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Seasonal Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive these great perks: a) free admission to the Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; and c) discounts from various local and national vendors.

What will I do?

  • Forming and pouring concrete, general framing, playground construction, and installation of sprinklers, landscaping, tables, and benches.

  • Driving equipment (small dump trucks and pick-up trucks).

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of power tools.

  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.

  • Assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform other related work as required.


What requirements do I need to apply?

  • Any training or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • Valid, lawful driver license.

  • Preference will be given to applicants with a CDL.


What are the hours?
Approximately three (3) months. (Specific dates to be discussed during interview.) Forty (40) hours per week between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. (Actual schedule will be set by the supervisor based on department need.)


What are the physical and environmental factors?

Applicant must have the physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work. This work requires strenuous physical labor; walking; bending; reaching; lifting (up to 70 lbs.); and exposure to adverse weather conditions and some pesticides.

What is the selection process?

This is an open file posting. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted for any positions available at that time. They will remain on file for a minimum of 60 days. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
