Job description

We have an opening in the Maintenance Department for (2) Mill Mechanic – Skilled.  Qualification for this position will require candidates to pass a series of written and practical exams.  Rate $40.40 per hour.  The duties and working procedures are listed below.

Primary Function

Electrician:      Inspect, construct, install, alter, repair, store, lubricate, and maintain all electrical equipment pertaining to production, buildings, and power transmissions, etc.

Mechanic:       Construct, maintain, install, inspect, alter, adjust, repair, build, operate, rig and lubricate machinery, equipment, tools, and buildings.  Maintain fire systems, alarms, extinguishers, and fire equipment.

Machinist:        Set up and operate a variety of machine shop equipment in shop and field.  Assemble and disassemble equipment and machines.

Pipefitter:         Inspect, construct, install, alter, repair and maintain all pipe utilities pertaining to building and production throughout the plant.

Welder:            Perform duties necessary to plan lay out, and complete assignments related to burning, cutting, brazing, soldering gas and electric welding of all varieties.

Maintains compliance with ISO quality system responsibilities.

 General Duties and Working Procedures
  • Recognize and correct/report unusual or unsafe conditions.
  • Keep work area, equipment and department clean, safe and orderly.
  • Receive instruction and work assignments from supervisor for any and all
  • multi-skill tasks.
  • Layout work and plan accordingly; obtain necessary layouts, sketches, tools, equipment and materials, etc.
  • Operate field, shop and mobile equipment necessary to efficiently complete the job to specifications required by the equipment, company standards and/or operating requirements.
  • Use torches for cutting and heating in performance of duties.
  • Perform, work with, and/or assist other maintenance personnel or operators necessary to complete job assignments.
  • Instruct and train apprentices and helpers.
  • Identify and store salvageable equipment and materials.
  • Drives on out of town and side trips as required.
  • May be assigned to perform tasks, either with or without the assistance of operations employees and with or without tools, provided the employee possesses the necessary skills to perform the job safely in the manner deemed necessary.
