Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a full-time in person Assistant Professor/Instructor of Applied Mathematics and Data Science, starting Fall 2026. We seek a dynamic, student-centered educator with expertise in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field and the ability to teach across the undergraduate mathematics curriculum.
The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and advising students from diverse backgrounds and contributing to the continued growth of the Applied Mathematics and Data Science program.
Essential Functions/Duties:
  • Teach undergraduate mathematics courses at all levels (typically a 4 course (12 credit hour) teaching load per semester) such as College Algebra, Statistics, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, Ordinary Differential Equations. Additional opportunities exist to teach courses in Data Science, Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Analysis, Complex Analysis, and Partial Differential Equations.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and program initiatives
  • Support student success through advising, tutoring coordination, and student engagement initiatives
  • Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Applied Mathematics and Data Science program

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience coordinating multi-section courses and working within a standardized curriculum
  • Familiarity with Pearson MyLab and McGraw Hill ALEKS or similar adaptive learning platforms
  • Experience incorporating Excel, statistical software, programming, or data analysis tools into instruction
  • Experience teaching in technology-enhanced or iPad-based learning environment
  • Experience teaching statistics, data science, applied mathematics, and upper-level mathematics courses such as Partial Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Mathematical Modeling, Complex Analysis.
