Are you interested in identifying and solving challenging mathematical problems that form the basis for solutions in communications, navigation, and timing? MITRE is a not-for-profit company dedicated to solving problems for a safer world. Among our many work programs are large programs in GPS, navigation, timing, and communications. MITRE has a long and distinguished history in these fields including our contributions to the design of new GPS signals, the development of software radio GPS receivers, the development of novel satellite navigation receivers, the development of tools and techniques to support low probability of intercept communications, and algorithms and techniques used to reduce interference for receivers. Roles & Responsibilities: MITRE's Communications, SIGINT, and PNT department is looking for talented mathematicians and applied mathematicians who are interested in joining our team and leveraging their strong mathematics background to help solve important problems in electrical engineering. In this position, you will apply your technical expertise towards furthering the public good by developing, applying, and evaluating state-of-the art navigation and communication technologies, such as: * State of the art signal processing algorithms for navigation and communication systems (radio navigation, wireless communications, vision navigation, etc.)
* Next generation signals for communications, satellite, and radio navigation
* Techniques for detecting, locating, and identifying signals Basic Qualifications: * Requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree (MS, PhD) with relevant experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
* Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or other modeling and data analysis software tools
* Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
* Desire to apply a strong math background to real-world applications and to develop skills in communications, navigation, and timing
* This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline
* Experience with applying theory to real world applications
* Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
* The ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with people of different backgrounds This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
