Job description

Our client is hiring a Senior Windows Systems Engineer/Windows Group Lead for a remote, full-time opportunity with their growing team.

Titles: Sr. Windows Systems Administrator, Sr. Windows Systems Engineer.

US Citizens only.

Overall:

The Windows Group Lead will be responsible for supervising the Windows team, consisting of Junior and Senior Systems Engineers. The Windows Group Lead will report to a Principal Director of SAP Delivery.

Duties:

  • Lead a small team of 3-5 Windows System Administrators/Engineers.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and guidance to team members, including maintenance of Microsoft Windows environments; system performance monitoring and capacity reporting; and administration-related solutions for both SAP and non-SAP client environments.
  • Report to management and leadership team key metrics, performance indicators, and progress updates regarding projects and clients.
  • Ensure all team goals and projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool-building and automation.
  • Participate in the development of technology and services roadmaps.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor new team members.
  • Partner with peers, clients, and key stakeholders to ensure continued success.
  • Meet with internal and external customers to develop relationships and foster co-innovation opportunities.
  • Perform root cause analysis, in collaboration with software development and delivery teams.
  • Participate in development initiatives to improve operational performance.
  • Engage with our partners and clients to develop new solutions for the management of client environments using the latest proven technologies.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant hands-on systems engineering and administration in servers, networking, storage systems, and operating systems; with heavy emphasis on Windows Server platforms and associated Microsoft and other technologies
  • 3+ years of experience as the systems engineering and operations leader for service provider or advanced IT organization operating in a 24/7 environment
  • 2+ years of experience in a management/supervisory role
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Extensive experience with automation, configuration management, and various utilities
  • Automation experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, VBScript, JavaScript, or Python
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server
  • Familiarity with agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)
  • AWS and Azure service usage on commercial or government cloud
  • Experience with one or more ticketing systems (ServiceNow preferred)
  • Experience with monitoring systems and performance management related to IT systems/solutions
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale
