Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Candidates with the appropriate experience may be considered for either a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager position based on their background, leadership experience, and project portfolio.

This is an outstanding opportunity for construction professionals looking to join a growing commercial general contractor during an exciting period of expansion. The ideal candidate has experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects, enjoys collaborating with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams, and thrives in an environment that values accountability, strong communication, and disciplined project execution. As the company continues expanding into larger and more complex commercial projects, this role offers the opportunity to contribute beyond individual projects and help shape the future of the organization. Experience with tilt-wall construction is highly desirable.

Why Join Our Client?

Our client is a growing commercial general contractor with experience delivering retail, restaurant, office, industrial, medical, and other commercial construction projects throughout Texas. As the company continues to grow, it is strategically investing in experienced leadership, expanding its capabilities, and pursuing larger, more complex commercial projects.

Recent additions to the leadership team bring experience delivering commercial projects ranging from approximately $100 million to over $300 million, providing an opportunity to learn from seasoned construction professionals while helping build the next generation of the organization. Whether you're looking to step away from a large corporate environment or take on greater ownership within a growing company, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring successful execution of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Lead project planning activities, including preconstruction meetings, scheduling, budgeting, scope development, contract review, and coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, payment applications, project documentation, and financial reporting while maintaining accurate project records.
  • Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams to proactively resolve issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct regular site visits, monitor construction progress, ensure quality standards are met, and successfully lead project closeout and warranty activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial construction project management experience. Candidates with more extensive experience managing large or complex commercial projects may be considered for a Senior Project Manager position.
  • Proven experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and financial management.
  • Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and relationship management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing retail, restaurant, office, industrial, medical, tilt-wall, or other commercial construction projects.
  • Experience delivering large commercial construction projects or working for established regional or national commercial general contractors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
