Job description

Helical Pile Solutions is a deep foundations contractor with over 30 years of industry experience, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. ("Java"). Java's team brings more than 50 years of experience building some of Canada's largest electrical infrastructure projects.

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead, Business Applications to lead our new Business Applications team and solution delivery oversight across Application platforms including Microsoft 365. Based in our Calgary office and reporting to the Manager of IT Service Operations (or delegate), you will combine hands-on business analysis with team leadership, governance, and solution delivery oversight across Microsoft 365 platforms.

Position Summary:

The Team Lead, Business Applications is responsible for leading a Modern Workplace delivery team while providing hands-on business analysis, governance, and solution delivery oversight across Microsoft 365 platforms and other business applications. While the team supports M365 as a core platform, the Application Support function also covers ERP systems, estimating tools, field applications, and other business-critical software. This role balances people leadership, stakeholder management, and technical solution design to drive adoption, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

Requirements

Key Accountabilities:

Application Champion

  • In collaboration with the Business Applications team, develop an in-depth understanding of our applications, including features, functionalities, and best practices, to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • As a team, act as the IT liaisons for various business applications, working closely with business stakeholders and coordinating with internal and external vendor teams.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, including performance management and career development.
  • Establish standards, governance, and best practices for the Modern Workplace team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Assign work, manage priorities, and ensure service delivery commitments are met.

Business Analysis and Delivery

  • Manage intake, prioritization, and demand for Modern Workplace initiatives.
  • Gather and document business and technical requirements from stakeholders.
  • Translate requirements into practical Modern Workplace solutions.
  • Lead initiatives from intake through to implementation.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops, solution design sessions, and reviews.

Application Support Oversight

  • Oversee the delivery of Tier application support for enterprise and business-critical systems, including M365, ERP, estimating tools, and field applications.
  • Ensure timely incident resolution, root cause analysis, and service health monitoring across all supported applications.
  • Review and approve SOPs, knowledge base articles, and training materials developed by the Application Support Analyst.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex or high-priority application support issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in application support processes, including patch management, release coordination, and service enhancements.

Modern Workplace Oversight

  • Provide Microsoft 365 subject matter leadership across the team.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance alignment for all Modern Workplace solutions.
  • Drive adoption, user engagement, and continuous improvement of M365 tools.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, and service operations teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis or application delivery
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams (formal or informal leadership)
  • Strong Microsoft 365 and SharePoint knowledge
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
  • CBAP or PMI-PBA certification (preferred)
  • Microsoft certifications (preferred)
  • ITIL experience (preferred)
