Homeland Force and Protection within CMCI is seeking a strong applications developer to join the Traveler Processing and Vetting Solutions (TPVS) Program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.
The position is focused on delivering performance-based IT services and repeatable solutions. Our team is looking for a developer that can support applications in a cloud-based, large-scale enterprise environment with the goal of learning new technologies to optimize efficiency and improve performance. As such, this individual must be able to manage assigned tasks and solve technical problems and be able to work well individually and in small to medium-sized teams. The development role will be one of many within a team of 10+ people, and close interactions with other agile delivery teams across PSPD, CBP, and external applications will be necessary for success.
**This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, twice a week**
Primary Responsibilities
โ€ข Learn and support the implementation of workflow and rules technology integration across multiple applications
โ€ข Manage assigned tasks to completion within a team of 10+ developers.
โ€ข Identify and resolve technical issues that arise
โ€ข Work independently
โ€ข Employ ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems to achieve functional objectives
โ€ข Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members.
Required Skills and Experience:
โ€ข BA/BS with 5+ years of relevant experience or 3+ years of relevant experience with Master's Degree: OR 6 years of experience in lieu of degree
โ€ข Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start
โ€ข Experience in Java
โ€ข Experience with cloud-based computing
โ€ข Experience with agile-based implementations
โ€ข Good communication skills with ability to interact effectively across multiple teams
Preferred Skills (Not essential but beneficial to have):
โ€ข Familiarity with workflows and rules engines
โ€ข Knowledge of PostgeSQL and AWS
โ€ข Worked with requirements, business flows, users and user stories to implement solutions and resolving technical issues
โ€ข Experience applying a continuous integration/deployment approach to project or program delivery
โ€ข Familiarity in the following tools and/or technologies:
โ€ข JDK21and above
โ€ข Python, JavaScript
โ€ข WebServices including REST interfaces development
