Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The primary purpose of the Applications Administrator is to participate in the overall design, implementation and ongoing management of applications and services that support the business needs.ย  Work with business and technical organizations to define and implement solutions to improve current and future business plans and objectives.ย ย  Provides support services to internal and external customers for complex, technical and configuration issues related to production applications.ย  Manages the effective use of existing applications and evaluates business and end user needs to ensure their alignment with the overall organizational strategies.ย 

The Applications Administrator is also responsible for planning and coordinating the processes required for the provision of user applications and systems necessary for business operations. This individual guides and assists the user group on issues related to the design, development and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.ย 

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure application meet business requirements and system goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify and help resolve systems issues

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Effectively communicate with all levels of organization

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Serve as expert (SME = Subject Matter Expert) in the front and back end of all applications

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Evaluate, install, configure and deploy new applications, systems software, products and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality. Contribute to pre-testing phase of development by evaluation proposals in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop and communicate training and documentation for end users

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Act as liaison between the business and IT

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Process Improvement: Continuously reviews, recommends and implements improvement steps, as needed or directed.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Seeks supervisory guidance/approval as appropriate.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Portrays professional image: follows dress code, communicates with internal and external customers in a professional manner, including appropriate verbal and written grammar.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Education:ย  Bachelor's degree with major in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related area preferred.ย  Equivalent experience will be considered.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience: Four year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, Must have experience in Information Systems, preferably in an insurance setting.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Frequent sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, and long periods working at a computer.
