We are seeking a strategically-minded, technology-focused, and customer-centric software development leader to lead one of our digital engineering teams. This team powers CLEAR's digital experience, enabling seamless, intuitive support for members and travelers in the moments that matter most. As an Engineering Leader, you will lead a team responsible for building the tools, systems, and platforms that support real-time, in-person experiences across airports and beyond. Your work will directly impact how Ambassadors assist members from identity verification to personalized service ensuring every interaction is fast, intuitive, and exceptional.
A successful candidate will bring strong software development experience, be an effective communicator, and have the ability to lead programs from inception through delivery. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are motivated by building reliable, scalable systems that power human-centered experiences. This individual will have a track record of delivering well-architected, highly-available platforms that enable both operational excellence and rapid innovation.
What You'll Do:
  • Hire, develop, and grow engineering talent by providing career development support, actionable feedback, and performance reviews
  • Lead team execution, ceremonies, and strategic roadmap planning, ensuring strong alignment across engineering, product, and operations
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and operations teams to define requirements that support real-world Ambassador workflows
  • Build and evolve systems that power real-time, in-person service experiences, balancing speed, reliability, and ease of use
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through mentorship, feedback, and data-driven decision-making
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance, clearly articulating trade-offs, risks, and architectural decisions
  • Drive engineering and operational excellence through ownership of performance, reliability, and usability metrics; champion best practices in testing, documentation, and observability

What you're great at:
  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing software engineers, with strong coaching and team leadership skills
  • Experienced across the full software development lifecycle, including coding, architecture, and system design
  • Strong communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional partners and earn their trust
  • Proficient in modern object-oriented languages, design patterns, and engineering best practices
  • Experienced in building cloud-native applications and scalable distributed systems
  • Comfortable working across teams and disciplines to deliver cohesive, end-to-end experiences

The total compensation range for this role is $275,000-$350,000, depending on levels of skills and experience.
This range represents the combined base salary, annual bonus incentive, and new hire equity package (in Restricted Stock Units) for this position at CLEAR. Additionally, this role will be eligible for refresh equity grants as part of our ongoing compensation program. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience, and performance. All stock based compensation will be subject to the terms and conditions of applicable agreements.
