Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to develop innovative automation solutions for manufacturing customers. In this role, you'll work closely with the sales and engineering teams to understand customer requirements, develop machine concepts, prepare technical proposals, create cost estimates, and present custom automation solutions that help win new business.

You will combine your technical expertise with strong communication skills to guide customers through the proposal process while collaborating with internal engineering teams and outside vendors to develop the best possible solution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop custom automation concepts based on customer manufacturing requirements.
  • Create conceptual layouts and proposal drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Review customer specifications and determine the most effective automation solution.
  • Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and conceptual designs.
  • Build labor, material, and manufacturing cost models for custom equipment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and suppliers during the quoting process.
  • Travel to customer sites to gather project requirements and support business development efforts.
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers and engineering teams.
  • Support sales throughout the proposal process and assist in closing new business.
  • Follow up with customers regarding technical questions and proposal revisions.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships while identifying future business opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Applications Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering, Project Engineering, or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience designing custom automation equipment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and factory automation.
  • Experience developing technical proposals and project cost estimates.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work directly with customers throughout the sales process.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conceptual design abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed.
