Position Summary:
The application engineer will provide cost effective bulk cable and cable assembly as well as custom interconnect design solutions based on direct customer interaction and knowledge of the application for their assigned customer base and market segment. The application engineer will work together with the Sales Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Quality, Production, and Process Engineering in support of our customer's needs. The application engineer may also be tasked with developing new and innovative products based on customer input, market trends, and company strategy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Material Science) preferred.
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with bulk cable manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bulk cable and cable assembly design, materials, components, manufacturing processes, and testing procedures.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (including UL, CSA, NEC, cUL, IEC, CE, RoHS, and ISO 9001) and their influence on manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with extrusion process engineering, material science, and Quality Assurance/Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Proven project management capabilities with a self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in DraftSight SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, internet research, and database navigation.

Process Optimization & Manufacturing
  • Optimize extrusion, and cabling to reduce costs and waste.
  • Support polymer extrusion (PVC, TPE, TPU, Nylon, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymers, XLPE) on 4/0 to 44 AWG copper wire.
  • Manage twisting, bunching, and planetary cabling equipment.
  • Improve yields, production speeds, and machinery utilization.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues and refine processes.

Design & Engineering Integration
  • Design bulk cables meeting market needs.
  • Lead design reviews and validation to ensure product quality.
  • Partner with development engineering to address capability gaps.
  • Align processes, equipment limits, and materials with customer specs.

Project Management, Quality & Support
  • Lead teams to deliver complex development programs.
  • Drive internal projects from concept to completion.
  • Coordinate and execute Engineering Change Notifications (ECN).
  • Provide accurate cost estimates and quotes.
  • Implement process controls to maintain quality.
  • Evaluate electrical and mechanical test requirements with Quality.
  • Ensure seamless manufacturing transitions for new products.
  • Meet team goals for savings, quality, safety, and timely introductions.

Pay Transparency:
