We are seeking an EH Steering Application Engineer to support the application, integration, and validation of electro hydraulic (EH) steering systems for off highway mobile equipment. This role focuses on applying proven steering control solutions to machine platforms, supporting testing and validation activities, and working closely with controls, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure safe, robust, and high performance steering functionality.
This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys hands on machine application work, system level problem solving, and cross functional collaboration.
What You Will Do:
  • Apply EH steering systems to machine platforms to meet performance, safety, and operability requirements
  • Support controls calibration and tuning activities for steering response, stability, and operator feel
  • Integrate steering systems with hydraulic components, sensors, actuators, and electronic controllers
  • Participate in requirements definition, DFMEA activities, and design reviews
  • Support machine-level testing, data collection, and analysis in lab and field environments
  • Assist with SIL/HIL testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and production issue resolution
  • Collaborate with controls, hydraulics, software, electrical, mechanical, and supplier teams
  • Document application settings, test results, and lessons learned

What You Will Have:
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.
Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
Product Development in Manufacturing: Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques of product development; ability to design, build and manage manufacturing of new products.
Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
  • Basic understanding of closed-loop control systems and tuning concepts
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic components (valves, actuators, sensors)
  • Familiarity with CAN/J1939 or similar vehicle communication protocols
  • Willingness to support hands-on testing and field validation
  • Experience with EH steering or steer-by-wire systems
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink or similar controls tools
  • Experience with off-highway or heavy equipment
  • Exposure to functional safety concepts (ISO 13849, ISO 25119, etc.)
  • Experience working in cross-functional product development teams

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
