About the role:
WEG is hiring an Application Engineer � EC Motors.
The Application Engineer � EC Motors serves as the primary technical and commercial resource for WEG's electronically commutated (EC) motor portfolio, with a focus on the W30 Smart EC and W30 Slim Smart EC product lines. This role bridges engineering expertise and market development, working directly with OEM customers, system integrators, distributors, and end users to specify, design-in, and support EC motor solutions across HVAC, commercial refrigeration, data center cooling, agricultural ventilation, and industrial fan applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands-on technical support for EC motor selection, sizing, and integration; generate torque-speed curves, thermal derating analyses, and control interface configurations for customer applications.
  • Lead technical engagement with OEM equipment manufacturers to secure motor specifications in new product development cycles; manage long-cycle design-in processes for rooftop units, air handlers, commercial refrigeration cases, and pump systems.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed technical and commercial proposals; work cross-functionally with product management and factory engineering to address complex customer specifications and performance requirements.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, application workshops, and training sessions for customers, distributors, and internal sales staff on EC motor technology, efficiency ratings (IE4�IE6), and integration best practices.
  • Identify and develop new application opportunities in target verticals including commercial HVAC, cold chain/refrigeration, poultry ventilation, and industrial fan markets.
  • Interpret and apply relevant standards including NEMA MG1, IEC 60034, DOE efficiency regulations, and ASHRAE guidelines; support customers navigating energy efficiency certifications and incentive programs.
  • Provide on-site commissioning assistance, troubleshooting, and failure analysis for EC motor installations; coordinate with factory application support teams for escalated technical issues.
  • Gather and synthesize customer feedback on product performance and gaps; communicate application trends, competitive intelligence, and product improvement requests to product management.

Education:
  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience

Knowledge/Training:
  • Working knowledge of NEMA MG1 and IEC motor efficiency standards
  • Ability to generate and present technical proposals to engineering and procurement audiences
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills in English
  • Familiarity with SAP or equivalent ERP systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of smart building protocols (BACnet, LonWorks) and IoT motor integration (preferred)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%

Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience with EC/PMAC/BLDC motors or variable-speed drive systems
  • Experience with motor control interfaces ? [See Flag #1]
  • 5+ years of experience in rotating electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Experience in HVAC, commercial refrigeration, or data center cooling applications (preferred)
  • Experience supporting OEM design-in sales cycles (preferred)
