Job description

These include loading and unloading systems for high-value hazardous and non-hazardous bulk products; railcar and transport tank-truck valves, gauging devices and tank-monitoring systems; automated storage-terminal controls and systems; and regulators, fittings, valves, vaporizers, vacuum-jacketed piping and gas-handling systems for the safe handling and distribution of cryogenics and industrial gases. OPW also creates and manufactures touch-free and soft-touch vehicle wash systems, entry systems and wash chemicals. OPW has more than 2,000 employees with manufacturing operations in North America, Europe and China, and sales offices around the world.
The Applications Engineer- Custom Equipment applies technical expertise to evaluate field-developed specifications and generate competitive, prepare accurate quotes for custom fluid transfer systems, and evaluate information provided directly from the field to design highly manufacturable fluid transfer solutions. This role will also provide advanced CAD designs, system layouts, and 3D models to customer specifications and applicable engineering standards with close collaboration with sales and production.
What you'll Do:
  • Custom Equipment Quoting: Utilize technical knowledge and field-provided data to quote custom pipe and swivel equipment (loading arms) and complex terminal layouts.
  • Cost & Accuracy Optimization: Ensure all custom loading arm configurations and engineering quotes are both highly accurate and highly economical for the customer and production. Create detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support the manufacturing department to ensure quoted solutions transfer seamlessly to the production floor.
  • Sales Collaboration: Act as the primary technical partner to internal sales teams, translating regional sales notes and field requirements into clean, viable commercial options.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Coordinate and communicate with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and other internal departments to streamline the quoting-to-purchase order pipeline.

What you'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME / BSMET)
  • 2 years of professional engineering or technical quoting experience
  • Software Proficiency: 2 years of experience using 3D CAD programs, (Creo/ProE preferred) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with custom piping design, pressure vessels, swivels, , or custom equipment layouts.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and Boiler Pressure Vessel Code.
