Sr Legal Applications Engineer

Onsite 1 day/week in either Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, Boston, NYC, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Washington D.C. or Salt Lake City

Summary

The Senior Legal Applications Engineer role sits on the Litigation Practive Delivery team, and builds, optimizes, deploys and maintains legal applications for the litigation team consisting of trial lawyers. This role will also partner with the practice innovation and e-discovery teams - engaging proactively with vendors to ensure solutions harness the full potential and inherent efficiencies of applications.

What You'll Be Doing

Solution Configuration: Collaborate with the innovation and e-discovery teams to adeptly configure technology solutions in line with the firm's requirements. Integration: Assure the cohesive integration of diverse data sources, spanning cloud and on-premises environments, into SaaS platforms. Vendor Management: Establish and nurture productive relationships with technology vendors. Guide them aligned with our firm's technological standards and best practices, emphasizing the optimization of inherent application efficiencies. Technical Support: Offer Level 3 support for our suite of applications, occasionally addressing Level 2 support scenarios. System Enhancements: Oversee system upgrades and conversions, ensuring alignment with non-IT business sectors. Governance and Compliance: Uphold the firm's rigorous security and governance standards across all applications. Documentation: Generate and update documentation pertinent to system configurations, troubleshooting, and integration methodologies. Data Analytics: Utilize SQL tools to derive thorough data analytics, presenting business users with precise insights. Operational Support: Render steadfast operational backing, with on-call roles distributed among team members.

Skills We're Seeking

5+ years of experience with Application Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience with Legal Applications specifically
    • You'll be working with Litera, iManage and other legal and e-discovery applications
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite providing tier 3 support for customized MS Office applications
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Experience providing tier 3 support, and engineering "long-term" solutions that alleviate support tickets that persist around common issues
Nice To Have Experience (From Most To Least Important)

Experience deploying applications to Linux environments

  • Experience deploying applications to Azure environments
  • Experience working with business stakeholders (ideally attorneys or folks on e-discovery and litigation teams) to gather and document business requirements for applications
  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Computer Science or an IT related field
