IT Help Desk Technician

Fort Wayne, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an IT Help Desk Technician who will serve as the first point of contact for employees and customers experiencing technical issues. This role is responsible for answering support calls, troubleshooting common IT issues, managing support tickets, and ensuring requests are routed to the appropriate technical teams.

Schedule
  • Onsite in Fort Wayne, IN
  • Monday through Friday
  • Flexible schedule:
    • 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or
    • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • No on-call responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming IT support requests.
  • Provide Tier 1 technical support for:
    • Windows 10/11
    • Microsoft 365
    • Password resets and account lockouts
    • Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
    • BitLocker recovery
    • Printers and peripherals
    • Basic business application support
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user technical issues.
  • Document issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions within the ticketing system.
  • Triage and escalate tickets to appropriate technical teams when necessary.
  • Monitor ticket queues to ensure timely assignment and resolution.
  • Follow up with users and confirm issue resolution before closing tickets.
  • Provide walk-up support for local users.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity checks, VPN support, and equipment resets.
  • Maintain and contribute to internal knowledge base documentation.
  • Assist with inventory management, equipment setup, documentation updates, and other operational tasks.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service mindset and professionalism.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems independently.
  • Good judgment regarding issue escalation and prioritization.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and services.
  • Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong documentation and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to follow security, privacy, and compliance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous Help Desk, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support experience.
  • Exposure to Windows or Linux server environments.
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as VLANs, routing, and firewalls.
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds, including computers, monitors, and related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
