Job Title: Project Manager – Electrical Test Equipment & New Product Development

Job Description

This role leads the development and design of electrical test equipment and highly customizable load banks to meet complex customer requirements. The Project Manager partners closely with Sales, Engineering, and Field Service to provide application expertise, support technical quotations, and drive both standard and custom product designs through established engineering processes. The position also manages engineering project activities, supports new product development initiatives, and helps implement business process tools that improve the accuracy and responsiveness of technical sales proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design electrical test equipment and highly customizable load banks that meet customer specifications, performance requirements, and cost targets.
  • Support the Sales team by providing application and product expertise during the development of technical proposals and engineered orders.
  • Assist the Sales team with preparing technical proposals and pricing for engineered orders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with customer needs and company standards.
  • Review and interpret customer-supplied specifications, drawings, and one-line diagrams for quotation and cost estimate purposes.
  • Deliver both standard and custom product designs using established engineering processes and design standards.
  • Provide engineering project management for assigned projects, including planning, coordination, scheduling, and progress tracking from concept through completion.
  • Design and develop products that achieve the best balance of cost and performance while meeting safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and publish metrics that measure the health and effectiveness of the sales support process and Engineering Team deliverables.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to conduct feasibility studies for new products and features, generate technical specifications, and schedule standard product line development programs through engineering.
  • Support the Field Service team by assisting in troubleshooting product and application issues and providing engineering insight as needed.
  • Respond to sales and engineering inquiries related to the regulatory environment, ensuring that proposed solutions and products comply with applicable standards.
  • Develop tools, including AI- or chat-based tools, to enable and support on-demand responses to technical questions and quotation requests.
  • Participate in sales calls and customer meetings to provide technical support, gather requirements, and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Lead projects and initiatives related to new product development and the launch of business process tools that improve sales and engineering efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of project management experience.
  • Proven experience leading projects from initiation through completion.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, such as supporting sales, participating in customer calls, or managing customer-driven projects.
  • Experience with new product development, including feasibility, design, and introduction to market.
  • Experience launching business process tools that support sales, engineering, or project management workflows.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and coordination across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, and one-line diagrams for design and quotation purposes.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with Sales, Engineering, Field Service, and customers.
  • Ability to balance cost, performance, and regulatory considerations in product design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Electrical or experience in electrical products preferred.
  • Experience developing tools to support technical questions and quotations, including AI or chat-based tools.
  • Experience working with standard product lines and highly customizable solutions.

Work Environment

The role is based in an office environment that is directly attached to a manufacturing floor, providing close proximity to the products and production processes. The engineering team consists of more than 20 engineers, offering a collaborative environment with diverse technical expertise. The environment supports a growing team and company, with a new product line experiencing high demand and increased sales, creating opportunities for meaningful impact and professional growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Independence, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
