Software Product Managers oversee broader software products, managing entire product lifecycles. Both roles require similar certifications and work in tech environments, but their scope and focus differ.

Can I be an application product manager with no experience?

Application product managers typically need some experience in product development, project management, or related fields. Entry-level roles may be available for those with strong technical skills, relevant certifications, or a background in user experience, but most employers prefer candidates with prior experience or related knowledge. Building skills in tools like Agile, Scrum, or product management software can help qualify for such roles.

What are top 3 skills for an application product manager?

An application product manager needs strong communication skills to coordinate teams and stakeholders, technical knowledge of software development and product lifecycle, and strategic thinking to prioritize features and align with business goals. Familiarity with project management tools and data analysis is also beneficial for effective decision-making.

PRODUCT OPERATIONS LEAD

6-PROFESSIONAL Management San Juan, PR, PR

Job Summary:

Óptima is undergoing a phase of rapid operational and technological modernization. The Product Operations Lead is a key figure in driving Óptima’s internal transformation. This person works directly with teams to understand current processes, identify improvement opportunities, design solutions with the right stakeholders, and execute them by collaborating with the group’s operations, technology, data, automation, and product resources.

This is not a traditional Product Manager role focused on a single product; rather, it is a hybrid role spanning product, operations, transformation, and execution. It involves managing multiple parallel workstreams—ranging from external partner integrations and product opportunities on internal platforms to the automation of manual internal processes. We are looking for someone with product vision, an operational mindset, and the initiative to launch, advance, execute, and influence without requiring granular direction.

Responsibilities:

Discovery and analysis:

  • Map processes with sufficient precision to identify where improvements yield the highest ROI (time, cost, errors, customer experience, regulatory risk).

  • Analyze external opportunities—such as new partners, channels, or integrations with brokers, MGAs, and other third parties—by evaluating technical, commercial, and regulatory feasibility.

  • Explore product opportunities within the group’s internal platforms to expand reach into new lines of business or use cases

Design and prioritization:

  • Translate findings into clear solution proposals, presenting evaluated options (buy, build, integrate, automate, redesign) and explicit trade-offs.

  • Define clear, actionable specifications—including acceptance criteria, dependencies, and success metrics for execution teams.

Execution and delivery:

  • Coordinate execution by collaborating with internal teams (development, data, automation, technology, product) as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

  • Facilitate working sessions, align stakeholders, remove blockers, and maintain momentum across the phases of discovery, design, build, launch, and iteration.

Communication and stakeholder management:

  • Act as a bridge between teams, translating operational and business language into technical language, and viceversa.

  • Communicate direction, progress, trade-offs, and decisions to operational, technical, and executive stakeholders.

  • Serve as a liaison between group entities for cross-functional initiatives, ensuring optimal design and implementation of products and solutions.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in product roles, tech operations, digital transformation, technology consulting, or operations within companies with complex processes.

  • Proven track record of taking initiatives from idea to execution with quantifiable results.

  • Full fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).

Preferred:

  • Experience in insurance, banking, healthcare, or other regulated industries characterized by heavy operational demands and legacy systems.

  • Experience working in or closely with M&A / post-merger integration.

  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code tools (Retool, Airtable, n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Platform)—ability to prototype simple solutions is a plus, not a requirement.

  • Conceptual familiarity with AI/agents applied to business workflows—ability to identify use cases and collaborate with the technical team on their deployment.
