We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director of Application Development to join our Global Payments & Trade - AMP team. This role is in New York, NY

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Lead the development and delivery of Core Banking solution leveraging Vendor and in-house capabilities.
  • Lead and oversee multiple application development teams and PODs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivery timelines.
  • Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, high-quality software solutions across the full technology stack.
  • Collaborate with product management, UX/UI, QA, and other stakeholders to define and deliver product roadmaps.
  • Establish best practices for software development, including coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers and senior developers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and project prioritization across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Ensure robust security, performance, and compliance standards are met in all applications.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of software development experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing multiple teams or PODs.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale, complex software programs involving cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
  • Prior experience working in a matrixed organization with distributed teams.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.) 
  • Strong hands-on full stack development experience with all latest technologies
  • AI First approach to all activities of development, testing and operationalizing any solution

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
