Houston, TX or Roanoke, VA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Business Development Application Engineer – General Industries to provide technical guidance and consultation supporting new product and solution development from initial concept through product launch. This position will combine application engineering expertise, market and competitive analysis, product development support, and client-facing technical communication to identify and develop solutions that support business growth.

• Monitor the competitive landscape to identify potential new products, technologies, solutions, and market opportunities.
• Conduct competitive analyses and provide technical comparisons to commercial and research and development teams.
• Evaluate competitor offerings and client applications to develop competitive technical solutions.
• Collect market data and develop market analyses for products and solutions under consideration for development.
• Develop and improve processes supporting product and solution development and successful product launches.
• Gather and communicate Voice of Customer (VoC) feedback regarding gaps in existing product offerings and potential solutions to client challenges.
• Provide technical evaluation and guidance for new products and solutions under consideration for development.
• Develop technical and sales training materials for existing and newly developed products and solutions.
• Deliver technical and commercial training to sales teams, application engineers, channel partners, and integrators.
• Develop technical content for sales brochures, press releases, whitepapers, and other marketing collateral.
• Collaborate with marketing and other internal teams on technical content development.
• Provide technical support to field sales teams as required.
• Perform technical evaluations of equipment sub-suppliers as needed.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and papers for clients, industry groups, conferences, and other technical meetings.
• Collaborate across engineering, sales, marketing, research and development, and other functional teams.
• Identify and recommend improvements to products, solutions, processes, and business practices.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree
• Minimum of 3 years of application engineering experience.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the following: electrical rotating machinery, power conversion, power generation, transmission and distribution, or automation systems.
• Demonstrated success identifying product gaps, emerging technologies, and new market opportunities that support business growth.
• Experience working with international clients, suppliers, and projects.
• Experience developing and presenting technical papers related to medium-voltage motors and drives, their applications, and product development to clients and industry groups, including at trade shows or technical conferences.
• Strong technical presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated innovative problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to contribute effectively as part of cross-functional project teams.
• Proven ability to establish successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%, sometimes with limited notice.
• Preferred: 7+ years of experience in application engineering, design engineering, or technical sales involving power electronics or power systems.
• Preferred: Client-facing experience within sales, business development, or marketing-related assignments.
• Preferred: Experience reviewing client specifications and supporting proposal development, contract development, and contract negotiations.

• Ability to perform primarily professional office and technical work requiring extended periods of computer use.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% as business needs require.
• Ability to attend client meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and project-related activities as required.
